Connecting your printer to your wireless network is usually the first step after unboxing. A wireless connection allows you to print from laptops, smartphones, and tablets without needing a physical USB cable.

Prerequisites Before You Start

Before beginning the setup process, ensure you have the following information handy:

  • Your wireless network name (SSID)
  • Your wireless network password (WEP/WPA/WPA2 Key)
  • Your router is powered on and functioning normally
  • Your printer is plugged in and turned on

Tip: Your network name and password are usually printed on a label on the back or bottom of your router.

Method 1: Connecting via the Printer's Control Panel

For printers with an LCD screen or touchscreen, this is usually the easiest method.

  1. 1
Access Network Settings. Navigate to your printer's control panel. Look for a gear icon, "Settings," or "Network Settings."
  2. 2
Run the Wireless Setup Wizard. Select "Wireless Setup Wizard" or "Network Setup." The printer will begin searching for available wireless networks.
  3. 3
Select Your Network. Scroll through the list of discovered networks and select your home or office Wi-Fi name (SSID).
  4. 4
Enter Password. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your Wi-Fi password. Remember that passwords are case-sensitive.
  5. 5
Confirm Connection. Press "OK" or "Connect." The printer will attempt to connect. A confirmation message will appear once successful.

Method 2: Connecting Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

If your router has a WPS button and your printer supports it, you can connect them without entering a password.

  1. 1
Start WPS on Printer. Find the wireless or WPS button on your printer. Press and hold it until the Wi-Fi light begins to blink.
  2. 2
Press Router WPS Button. Within 2 minutes, go to your wireless router and press the WPS button.
  3. 3
Wait for Connection. The printer and router will communicate. When the Wi-Fi light on the printer becomes solid (stops blinking), the connection is complete.

Testing Your Connection

Once connected, it is highly recommended to print a Network Configuration Page to verify the connection details. You can now proceed to install the printer software on your computer or add the printer to your mobile device's settings.
